Abstract

The aim of this paper is to advance some reflections addressed to university educators to be taken into consideration in their professional practice. We start from the notions of ethos and praxis, namely, the way of being of a teacher and his/her actual performance in the classroom. Next, we focus on the concept of ‘value’ to provide some guiding principles for their being and doing. Ethics and Pedagogy meet to highlight some values that are essential for teaching: empathy, dialogue, negotiation, the defense of human rights, the balance of ecosystems, and a healthy transformative teaching between teachers and students.
