Main Article Content
Abstract
The Technology Transfer Offices (TTO) within Mexican public higher education institutions plays a vital role by enabling academic research to reach the industrial sector and society at large. This process drives innovation and technological development in the country. Therefore, comprehending the essential characteristics of these organizations and the challenges they face becomes a necessity for the success of technology transfer. With the aim of addressing this issue, a qualitative methodology was employed, including semi-structured interviews with 24 Mexican TTO leaders. The collected data underwent detailed analysis using the Atlas.ti software, allowing for a comprehensive and contextualized characterization of TTO. Furthermore, a total of 15 challenges that these offices must tackle to enhance their performance were identified. Each characteristic and challenge is explored in depth to facilitate understanding and study. The obtained results not only provide valuable tools for TTO leaders and decision-makers but also contribute to advancing knowledge in this field.
