Current situation of higher education in the state of Chihuahua

Abstract
Higher education is a strategic asset for nations, as it is the indissoluble link between the generation of highly trained human capital and the production and dissemination of knowledge that favor the formation of fairer societies and more competitive economies. The objective of this article was to examine the situation of higher education in the country and in the municipalities of the State of Chihuahua through the statistical information generated by the National Association of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES), regarding enrollment, graduates and certified graduates, disaggregated by sex, as well as by study program (careers). For the 2021-2022 cycle, in Mexico a total enrollment of 4,646,825 university students was registered; 741,274 graduates, as well as 475,070 certified graduates. For its part, the State of Chihuahua participated with 136,962 enrolled, 20,707 graduates and 14,970 certified graduates, representing 2.9%, 2.8% and 3.2% of these educational lines with respect to the country, respectively. This work is intended to make a contribution that allows policy makers, administrators of policy and educational institutions, as well as teachers, to have information regarding trends and issues of higher education in the state and the country.
