Influence of the Neoliberal Political Model on the Quality Assurance System of Higher Education in Colombia

Abstract

This article analyzes the political and economic influence of the neoliberal model on the quality assurance models of Higher Education in Latin America, particularly in Colombia. It is observed that neoliberalism, driven by globalization, has introduced a new business approach in Latin American Higher Education Institutions to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. However, the Colombian State has also sought to encourage the participation of all educational actors in a Quality Assurance System for all, with the State being the main person responsible for ensuring the quality of education in the country.
