Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the admission model and permanence policies offered by the Universidad Nacional de Educación (UNAE), considering quantitative data from Ecuadorian Higher Education Institutions. A mixed methodology is used that starts from a conceptual foundation that analyzes high-impact scientific articles and regulations; in addition, it performs a statistical analysis of enrollment, retention and dropout rates in Universities and Polytechnic Schools and the first UNAE cohort. The results show that more than 90% of UNAE students belong to the lowest quintiles of poverty, with a high rate of university retention.
