Different and unequal. The myth in the process of homologation between normal schools and universities in Mexico
Main Article Content
Abstract
In Mexico, in 1984, as part of a professionalization policy, schools for teachers, where basic education teacher are trained, became Higher Education Institutions. Then began a process of homologation that, paradoxically, has exposed differences and inequalities between this Normal schools and Universities. In the present comparative study, built from the approach of a new sociological institutionalism, we develop the thesis that, in the rational institutional myth, that is, in the formal structure of the homologation, there are flaws that contribute to inequality related to political interests and state control, as well as a disarticulation within the same institutional environment.
