Reinventing 21st-century universities: challenges for a post-pandemic civilizational transition

Abstract
In this reflective article, we analyze the challenges faced by southern Universities. due to the pandemic and the urgent need to reinvent them in order to adapt to the changing times. We also highlight some initiatives in Mexico that are promoting environmental knowledge of indigenous communities. We discuss the significance of environmental epistemology and the knowledge dialogue proposal in shaping a new educational model with interdisciplinary perspectives, transparent governance, and accountability. The aim is to view education as a public good and facilitate its role in the post-pandemic civilizational transition.
