Abstract

Some possible analyses of the challenges that the University has faced in the last decades and that have significantly altered its institutionalism and its relations with the market, the State and society, especially with regard to global environmental problems, are pointed out. The evolution of environmental problems since the 1960s, the convening of international forums on the environment and the transition from social democracy to neoliberal globalization are analyzed in the light of the educational commitments assumed by universities in relation to sustainable development, proposing the convenience of evaluating whether educational reforms in relation to this concept provide solutions to the ecological crisis.
